MARTINSBURG, W.Va., (July 27, 2023) -- The Berkeley County Roundhouse Authority received a $9,100 Historic Preservation State Development grant to replace downspouts and gutters on the West Roundhouse.

The grant announcement was among several announced by Gov. Jim Justice, who joined West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture & History Curator Randall Reid-Smith for the presentation at the Martinsburg Train Station.
The Berkeley County Roundhouse Foundation, the fundraising arm for the Roundhouse, was separately awarded $2,000 for the project from the Two Rivers Giving Circle at the Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation.
The Berkeley County Roundhouse Authority raised an additional $7,100 in matching funds to complete the gutter and spouting project for the West Roundhouse, which is the world's sole-surviving cast iron frame roundhouse.
UPDATE: The project was completed by Collins Gutter Service II of Martinsburg in early 2024.
