Mission & Charge: Formed in 2016, The Berkeley County Roundhouse Foundation, doing business as Friends of the Roundhouse, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to fundraising and other fund-generating activities in support of the mission of the Berkeley County Roundhouse Authority to redevelop our National Historic Landmark into a center for community-sustaining activities, including a farm market and event center. 

 

Meetings: Friends of the Roundhouse board of directors meet quarterly.

Foundation Board of Directors: Friends of the Roundhouse is governed by a nine-member board that meets quarterly. 

​

Officers

PresidentMatt Umstead. A Martinsburg resident, Mr. Umstead is the current chair of the Berkeley County Roundhouse Authority. He also serves as vice-chair of the Berkeley County Museum Commission and is the Director of the Berkeley County Office of Strategic Planning and Communications.

​

Vice-President: Mark Thompson, A Martinsburg resident, Mr. Thompson has business and real estate interests in the downtown Martinsburg area. Retired from a career in government service, Mr. Thompson also serves the community as a member of the Martinsburg Shade Tree Commission, which he currently chairs.

​

Secretary: Elaine Mauck. A Martinsburg resident. Ms. Mauck is a former Berkeley County Clerk and former Berkeley County Commissioner, educator, and lifelong community historian.

​​

Treasurer: Robin Johnson. A Martinsburg resident, Ms. Johnson is a dedicated community volunteer, serving in various capacities with Mercy to Others Ministry, Scouting and the Roundhouse.

​

Board of Directors: H.D. Boyd, Daniel Kelly II,  Clarence E. "CEM" Martin, Mark Thompson, Shawn Wolford

​

General Members: Kevin Knowles, Dena Morgan, Clyde Young

​

Our Mission 

To engage in and act as a supporting organization of the Berkeley County Roundhouse Authority, a non-profit public corporation authorized by the Berkeley County Commission pursuant to H. B. 2742 enacted effective June 10, 1999.

Donations to Friends of the Roundhouse may be donor-directed to support a specific cause, such our East Roundhouse Performing Arts Amphitheater Project or basic maintenance and preservation needs.
