Community in the Round: Farmers Market - Event Center - Amphitheater

Current Funding Need: Building insulation, door modifications and electrical upgrades are among improvements that still need to be funded to establish a full-functioning marketplace on the first floor of the Bridge and Machine Shop building and outdoor seasonal market pavilion next to the building.

Help us make this project a reality, make a tax-deductible donation for the "Market-Event Center."

April 2023 Update: Contract signed with GRC General Contractor, Inc. of Zullinger, Pa. for construction of elevator/stairs to provide ADA/handicap accessibility access to Second Floor. HVAC system installation awarded in April to Appalachian Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. Project is funded by City of Martinsburg Recovery Grant funding ($125,000), Legislative Economic Development Assistance (LEDA) grant funding ($53,000) and funding commitment by Berkeley County Council.

The Martinsburg City Council and Berkeley County Council also awarded matching funds for the October 2020 award of $742,889 in grant funds for construction of an elevator, stairs and concrete floor. An addition for bathrooms has been completed on the back side of the building and a fire suppression system has been installed.

Mirroring the Capitol Market in Charleston, W.Va., our vision is attract year-round tenants and host a seasonal farmers market to provide fresh produce from Berkeley County and the greater Eastern Panhandle region in what is currently a "food desert" in the City of Martinsburg. Combined with must-see historic "edu-tainment" attractions and other community activities, the Marketplace project is anticipated to attract 3,000 people per day and create more than 45 jobs in the first year of operation. Making Music in The Ruins

Current Funding Need: Our community amphitheater project has been projected to cost as much as $1.5 million, but we are no less excited about the vision to create a one-of-a-kind performing arts venue in the ruins of the East Roundhouse building, which was tragically destroyed by fire in 1990.

February 2022: Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates developed conceptual design documents and cost estimates for this quality of life project, and continues to be very supportive.  Help us make this project become a reality, make a tax-deductible donation here and select "Amphitheater."
